Airthrie Space Adventure Day

Airthrie Space Adventure Day

Today was the first of our new Airthrie Adventure Days, school days in which pupils have the chance to learn interactively about a fun, off-timetable subject.

Our first theme was ‘Space’ and the pupils had a blast coming into school dressed in space gear, greeted by an astronaut at the door (guess who was in the suit?).

The pupil’s faces lit up when they saw the entrance hallway was transformed into the moon and even Buddy the Bear had his astronaut outfit on, ready for lift-off in his rocket!

We had plenty of activities to keep us busy, including creating bubble planets and straw rocket launchers, learning a space song and dance, baking space rocks, launching stomp rockets at Farnley field and visiting the amazing Explorer Dome. There was a brilliant mixture of activities for everyone to enjoy, whilst learning all about space, the solar system and the planets too!

The day was finished off with a lovely song and dance performance for the staff, a great way to end World Space Week.

We can’t wait to see what the next Adventure Day has in store for us!
