Airthrie Adventure Day Brings Wonderful Wildlife to Life for Pupils
Pupils at Airthrie School embarked on an exciting wildlife-themed adventure during the third Airthrie Adventure Day on Wednesday. The event featured fascinating animal encounters, immersive learning experiences, and creative activities aimed at deepening students' understanding of the natural world.
The highlight of the day was a visit from Walks With Hawks and Eco Animal Encounters, who introduced pupils to an array of incredible creatures. Pupils had the unique opportunity to meet and even fly birds of prey while learning about their habitats, food chains, and distinctive characteristics.
Eco Animal Encounters brought along an impressive selection of reptiles, including a bull python and a bearded dragon, amongst others. Pupils were thrilled to handle the animals while learning the importance of treating wildlife with care and respect.
In the afternoon, the adventure continued with a virtual reality (VR) workshop and hands-on museum activity boxes featuring fossils, butterflies, and minibeasts. Art activities allowed pupils to channel their creativity, even crafting their own moving minibeasts.
The day was a resounding success, sparking curiosity and excitement among pupils. As the school’s main hallway prepares to be transformed once again, anticipation is already building for the next Airthrie Adventure Day.
